Day 6.

Still no new supplies. I have consumed all but the last can of pasta. After tomorrow's breakfast, I fear there will be little left. My companions seem unable or unwilling to procure new supplies on their own and I will not be capable of a supply run for another three days. Cookies, while tasty, provide little nurtition.

Someone (not me) needs to make a grocery store run. Milk and bread. This is neither difficult nor expensive. Well, it's expensive if you're flat broke. Really, all I need is a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, lettuce and some dressing. Then at least I'll have some food. We have cereal but no milk. An abundance of peanut butter and jelly, but no bread or crackers even. We have hamburger helper, but no hamburger. The only thing we have left, really, is some Chef Boyardee lasagna bake (hooray sodium) and one can of canned pasta ravioli (yay more sodium.)

here's what you do....

Go into the kitchen like you're going to cook, say dinner, and as your banging pots and pans around just happen to mention that you need an ingredient from the store. Ask if one of them can run down the street and pick it up for you so as to not ruin dinner. Then as they'll grabbing their keys, hand them your shopping list. With any luck they won't read it until they're half way to the store.

*never actually tried this , but imagines in some universe that it could work.

Here's a nutty idea. . .

When Doug gets home from work, just say, "Dude, I know you're tired, but we NEED groceries right now. Let's run down the street to K-Mart or Bi-Lo and get just a few basics.

Homemade oatmeal cookies are very nutritious. MMM! You can live on those and ramen noodles for a week.
Of course after doing that, I now don't like ramen noodles anymore. ick. But cookies, always good!
